Well, I think it's because of Hollywood and the inane idea that if you hit the 
wrong button, you will **** up your entire computer. People want to be told and 
are reticent to explore for themselves. Like you, that is how I learned what I 
have about WP...but seeing what I can break and then trying to fix it. Some 
folks are explorers while others want to watch the adventure on their big-screen 
TVs.

PS: That's not to say that there aren't things that can be done to improve the 
admin panel. Giving the QuickTags a different/contrasting/other look than the 
rest of the page will make them stand out, I think... ;)
