Oh, yes.  Best way to do it, actually - exactly how you've described.

Do you want like a directory map, then?  What each directory/file is 
for?  I will do that if you like.

Reading the page, there seems to be an issue with RunPHP and WP 1.3 
which would require some core changes to get it running.  Maybe the 
autop stuff is doing it?  Wrong list to talk about this, but still worth 
noting somewhere if that's the party line for PHP embedding in WP static 
pages.
