Carthik,
So sorry I haven't commented on your options guide! Overall, it looks
like a magnificent job. Although at the moment I can't comment on every
aspect, here's a couple of things that jumped out at me:
1) Since I've covered (at http://www.cenamayo.com/wpdocs/12admin.html)
the Write and Edit sections (roughly...I need to go back and redo some
of the explanations, as per Matthew Thomas' earlier suggestions), these
should be linked in the Options guide 'for more detail see suchandso'.
This is in response to your coverage of basic/advanced editing controls,
but would also be true of any option that is expanded upon in another
section. (And in fact all 'guides' to a particular section of the admin
backend should be linked through this one doc for easier reference.)
2) Under General options: in the alpha-15, there's sections for both
'the WP URI' and the 'blog URI'. What's the difference between these?
(Also, in your version, you only include the blog URI, but I understand
you're using the 22 Apr nightly as your base install.)
3) Writing options: This is really unclear:
* *WordPress*
is invalidly nested, and if this option is chosen, WordPress will
* fix that to be *WordPress*
. Invalid nesting will result in Weblog pages that will not
validate as XHTML documents, which is not a good thing in general.
Also, you might want to mention that the 'show the most recent n
posts' option affects how many posts you will see listed in your
Edit menu.
4) Discussion options - under 'comment moderation', you might
mention that what this actually means; i.e., you will manually
approve/delete any comments before they appear on your site.
5)Permalinks - I think this paragraph needs to be revised,
including basic info like, you have to create an .htaccess
yourself, etc.
6)Link Manager - Don't think we need to include the list of
ratings gifs.
7) GeoURLS - there's a basic guide to this in the wiki I wrote up
awhile back; I could probably rewrite this so it'd be useful for
inclusion as a link in this section.
Otherwise, there's a some minor grammar/spelling errors, but those
are easily fixed. Awesome job!
Hope this helps,
Cena
