SUGGESTIONS:
* Table of contents with document anchors, so if people know something
they can skip.
* It might be worth having a born-yesterday tutorial talking about
unzipping and uploading.
* This seems to bounce between addressing basic users (newbies) and
advanced users with lots of hacks. It would be best if it identified its
audience and stuck to it.
* Telling people to backup their customizations to restore them isn't a
hard and fast rule, as sometimes changes are made in those files that are
important to the function of the application. The renaming of
blog.header.php to wp-blog-header.php comes to mind.
* Actually my preferred way for people to upgrade is to delete the files
off the server and re-upload, thereby avoiding problems like the one in
the above bullet.
* The "optional" files should be in an appendix
* It might be worth having a simple introduction to the web CVS interface
that shows the differences between two versions of files.
* NEVER use yourblog.com etc as an example url, use example.com or
example.net or example.org.
* Re-customising assumes that the file is writable through the template
interface, which usually isn't true unless they've CHMODed the file.
* Securing the upgrade section - I don't like this beacues it implies that
WP is insecure if you leave these files. With MT if you leave a file there
someone can overwrite your installation. With WP people can run all the
files a thousand times and it won't break your blog. So I recommend a list
of "optional" files that people can either delete or not upload if they're
not going to use them, and put it as an index at the end of the instructions.
