Glad to see some discussion on this. I've been thinking about the FAQs for a
while now.

I think that the WP forum structure is a good basis to start from. We should
start with broader topics, and then narrow them down as we go. There is a
danger in being too specific in the FAQs...remember that we are giving a
thumbnail sketch of the whole project, and not detailed instructions which
is the reason for the actual documentation. I suppose the FAQ answers should
be fairly general, with links to the appropriate spots in the documentation
for the detailed information or instructions. Also, I think that there could
be a basic TROUBLESHOOTING section that gives FAQ-like general answers to
some of the most common issues. I think that would be better as a separate
entity from the FAQ exercise. I also like the idea of being informal and to
try to use a bit of a humourous voice in the writing style. I know that the
setup of WP really helped me to relax and not worry about the install. I
liked the way WP "told" me what it was doing.

Here's my suggestions for discussion; note that the sub-headings are "kind
of" in a logical order, but only loosely:

General
-What is WP?
-How much does it cost? Can I donate?
-How is it related to other blogging apps?
-Why use WP?
-What are the major features?
-Can I import posts from other blogs
-Where do I find help?
-What documentation is available?
-How can I get involved in the WP community?
-I am a programmer/designer/hacker - can I help with the development of WP?

Installation
-What are the server-side requirements?
-What are the client-side requirements?
-Is there an install checklist?
-Can I upgrade from previous versions?
-Can I have multiple installations?
-What kind of basic skill set should I have?
-Is there any "Nice to have stuff" that would make my WP easier, better,
more enjoyable?

Post-Installation
-Can I import posts from other blogs?

Hacks
-Are there hacks available?
-Can I write my own hacks?
-How do I get help with installing hacks?

Design
-Can I use my own designs or alter the default design?
-Are there templates and/or skins available?
-How do I share my own templates and designs and ideas?
-Are there included templates with the installation?

Requests and Feedback
-How do I report bugs, or find information on know bugs and issues?
-How do I request a new feature?
-How do I let you know what I like/dislike about WP?

Beta Discussion
-Are there opportunities to test beta versions?

Miscellaneous
-Do I have to be a rocket scientist to install/configure/use WP?
-Why is the sky blue?
-How put the "bomp" in the "bomp-she-bomp-bomp?"
-Can I become a developer too?
